New Poster Design + VJ gig for Flying Lotus

flyinglotus poster design New Poster Design + VJ gig for Flying Lotus

New poster design and VJ gig for Flying Lotus’s Bristol Debut.

“Pattern is a series of carefully tailored happenings showcasing a side of the music scene too often underrepresented. Pattern is founded from our understanding of the symbiotic relationship between visual and musical stimulation. Sounds like a load of wank right? Yeah, we know, but we really think if allowed to develop together, what you see and what you hear can be two parts of the same function, each reacting to the other, each informing the other.

Our aim is to fuse cutting edge music, graphic design and live visuals, choosing those that are avant-garde enough to be edgy and exciting and playful enough to be enjoyable and accessible.

We want to bridge the gap between clubland and the gig circuit, reflecting electronic music outside of the club setting, allowing musicians the time to take their music seriously and you the time to appreciate it fully. Pattern creates a platform to bring together art savvy hipsters, band-loving scenesters and bass-junkie clubbers and get them all home in time for a Horlicks.

FLYING LOTUS Hardly needs much of an introduction these days. FlyLo (to his friends) only broke onto the scene a few short years ago, but rapid morphed from reclusive laptop nerd to one of the most desirable and talked about producers and remixers of recent years. Much is made of his connection to the Coltrane family (he is Alice Coltrane’s great nephew) but though a tangible musical link can be hard to prove, there is undoubtedly a freedom of expression and emphasised syncopation that sets FlyLo’s music apart from the field.

Keeping Flying Lotus company on the plane and joining us for this gig is fellow L.A. resident, Brainfeeder label cohort and sometime collaborator (see the FLYamSAM side project) SAMIYAM. Like FlyLo, Samiyam shares a passion for off-kilter melodies and lop-sided beats. Samiyam infrequently tends towards tracks in a hip-hop vein but always with his quirky, musical slant.

It may be up to FlyLo and Samiyam to kick the door in and pistol-whip a few people, but someone’s gotta have their backs. Support this time round comes in the form of REKORDAH. Equally at home in SE15 and BS6, Rekordah’s wonk-tastic vibrations are being felt by those in the know on forums and blogs and will soon be felt in the hands of record lovers when his releases on Pollen and Senseless Records hit the shops. His sound will mix with the headliners’ like a well-tuned cocktail, but Rekordah’s music has strong overtones of tape music, leaning heavily on found sound which is quickly bent and distorted until it is lost again.”

rwd web design New RWDmag 2.0 Website Design

Late last year i spent a few months working alongside web-developers atticmedia on the new RWDmag.com 2.0 design, now the coding work has finished and the site has finally launched.

The new site is a massive update from the old and brings RWD up to date with web 2.0 functionality. As always the site will contain the latest news, music and videos from the world of garage, grime, hip hop, R&B, electro, funky, indie and more. It will continue to bring you the latest fashion, gadgets and games from the across the UK and more importantly the globe… only the sections will be bigger and better.

The design of the site changes depending on wherabouts you navigate to, to suit the users  music tastes, aswell as for lifestyle options such as fashion and gadgets.

Check it out for yourself www.rwdmag.com
